Interesting, I noticed something similar on my Nerite Snails shell. Small hard barnacles, closer inspection I saw what looked like a feather duster sweeping motion constantly and retracting.

    Thought feather dusters were soft?

Checked foramiferans, vermetid and none of those match...so still feather dusters? I do have a plethora of typical feather dusters so it wouldn't surprise me if they are spreading..

I as well have these on my snails and in the middle of my hammer coral. My vote is barnacle. Given we still don't have a picture.

Vermetid snails put out 2 little silk looking strands, which captures particles on it for it to eat. So you can see the long strings if they're vermetid snails

I have those little things on my nerite snails as well. They look like little barnacles with a hole on the top of the little "hill" and has a little fan that pops in and out sometimes. I have feather dusters, but they don't look the same.. Some actually popped off the snails shell and roam around one piece my LR. It's pretty cool actually, but Im curious to what they really are as well..
