Hey all, I am considering adding a vortech opposite my existing mp40es. This alone does an okay job at keeping my tank happy, but i just want a bit more. So should I add an mp10es or another mp40es?

Another option I have is to buy an mp10 for my growout and then upgrade the existing mp20 from the growout tank to an mp40 and then place that in DT.

lucky i want a cube :( i think that a MP 40 would reach the other side perfectly where as a MP10 might fall a little short.

I'd go with a 40. Option 2 is probably your best bet.

That's what I'm thinking. Price comes to $350 then opposed to $465. Getting the same thing for less that way

I would not put them directly across from each other. Unless running antisync, and even during that, you will have some cancellation of forces. I would do one on the side and one on the back. This would make for some really nice swirling eddies around your rock work.

Back to the original question... I would run another MP40. Either upgrade, or get a new one, which ever is cheaper.

Would your growout tank suffer with the lower flow of a MP10?

That's more than excessive. The one 60 can probably blow the water out of the tank. =) I can create a fairly decent wave with one MP40 on a 6ft.

good point, I was planning on doing antisync but if you think that on the back wall would be better then i will consider that.

Honestly, i doubt that my growout would suffer. I have 2 mp20s in there now with max output each @ 2000gph. The mp10 would be max output @ 1575gph. I dont think that would be too bad when paired with the existing mp20.

I have two MP40's on my 75 gallon on Antisync and I love it. I do think have one on the back side of a cube would create very interesting flow, but it will also depend on how you have your rock set up.
