Which is the better Snail

    I am looking to order 10 for my 47 gallon. I currently have about 3 or 4.. Which is the better algae eater, the Trochus Snail or Mexican Turbo Snaiil

    Mexican turbos clean like crazy but they are bulldozers and can knock things over more than a small snail. They also dont fit into small spaces as well.

    i agree on the mexican turbo. bulldozing could be an understatement. lol. toro

    the Mexican Turbos, have a rep for consuming GHA really well
    but as stated they are clumbsy as a clumbsy thing, thats very,very clumbsy

    10 would be a little overkill for a 47 with Turbo's IMO. They are big (mine are slightly bigger than golf balls). Maybe try 5 to start with.

    Maybe not even five. I have 1 in my 30 gallon along with like 10 margaritas. The Mexican turbo is just rolling over everything. It's great. Your preference though.

    i agree with pack. 10 i thinks too many. why not get an assortment, couple mexicans. trochus, astereas etc. diversity.

    I didn't realize they were that big! wow, thanks for the heads up. I will get a few of them, some trochus and some electric blue hermits.

    Also, Florida ceriths, dwarf ceriths, periwinkle snails can get into the small spaces and in sand to eat algae. I had 7 mexican turbos in 75 during HA outbreak, I have 3 now along with a bunch of the ones I mention above, I have to give the Mexican turbos nori so they don't starve, HA is gone. My electric blue hermits got big and started to eat things I didn't want them to, so I recently banished 5 of them to part of my sump, one already moved into a bigger shell down there, but they do clean so well!
