Yes 87 is high. Get that down and then check this out and here is another picture. Those are hammer corals. My absolute FAVORITE coral. The only reason I don't have one now is because none of my LFSs have one :( They are beautiful, will survive under your light, and with good flow they get VERY wavy which is what I love. You wouldn't regret that purchase!!

Please forgive me rofl. ;-) I havent been getting much sleep recently bc i have a 3 week old baby. My first one lol. I meant to type 77 F. Yeah 87 is a good way to ruin my investment. Sorry to alarm you guys. Maybe i should wait to wake up more b4 typing posts. But then again i havent felt awake this whole 3 wks lol.

So just to reconfirm my temp is 77 F Sorry for the cufusion, but maybe it gave yall a good laugh?

    Whoops!

Those Hammer corals are pretty sweet! How hard are they to care for?

Also is my phosphate test kit acurate enough at down to 0.25 mg/l ?

Ended up picking up a Torch Coral Frag for $15.00. Not a bad size for the price. Id post pix if any one actually wanted to see it. It opened up like 20 mins after putting it in the tank and placing it away from other specimens. Looks nice already. ..
    Thanks for the help everyone!

:-/, Yep is not going to get along with close neighbors. Those sweepers can extend pretty far.

Would not have been my first choice for a 30 gal.

You have the lighting to manage about anything. May even be too much for many softies.

SPS/LPS/Softies will not get along well in a smaller tank.

Going to be some serious chemical warfare going on in there.

Be prepared for doing some serious and frequent water changes if you choose to mix them.

    Good Luck.

Really going to be as bad as you make it out to be as far as the chemical warfare? The guy at the LFS said that it should be fine. Also i went on a recommendation of the hammer corals with which the LFS guy said the torch was Very Similar to.

You guys have me scarred now :-(

Should i return it today? (day after getting it, hopefully i can if i should)
The other coral i was looking into getting were green star polpys

Or should i start stocking only LPS?

Whats the best thing to look into for my 30g in your opnion

On a side note my friend had a 29g before upgrading to a 72 bow and he had quite a mix of Softies, SPS, and LPS. He never had any problems. When the softies outgrew the Stonies, he would just prune everything that needed it and gave away clippings.

I sometimes find it hard to get reliable info on reef keeping. It feels like politics and im starting to become discouraged with all the contrary info i hear.

Thanks for the help so far
