where to buy uv glass?

I need uv glass for my metal halide. Anybody know where that sells them?

 

from what i understand the uv filter coating is on the bulb i asked the same type of question before i ordered my MH, when i got my light i looked at the bulb and it is printed right on the buld that it has a uv filter coating, im assuming when i say this but any bulb purchased for our paticular reason the bulb will have this uv coating unless it specifies otherwise because we only want uv rays in our sterilizers uv is bad for basicly everything

hopefully somebody with more knowledge will pipe in and correct me if im wrong

 

It is not really a coating. It is a process called Tempering. There are UV coatings, but they are not required. The tempering process does well enough and makes the glass much more resistant to the major heat the lights will put off.

For a standard SE (Single Ended) bulb, an extra piece is not required. For DE (Double Ended) bulbs, they do not have an outer sleeve of tempered protective glass.

Any glass / window supplier should be able to order you a piece to fit. Usually takes a week to be made and then delivered. Once glass is tempered, it cannot be cut.

 

Yes! Marine Depot has them. I just ordered 2 of them tonight! It took me a week to find them cause my lighting fixture uv glass shattered into my tank. At least i could help somebody!
