    Hello everyone,

I was just wondering where is it recommended to get the things you need for your marine aquarium. I'm talking about places online to get equipment (lighting, powerheads, skimmers, etc.), sand, base and live rock, livestock (coral, fish, inverts, etc.)

I know marinedepot.com is one but I want to know other places I could look for things.

    Thanks.

I really like petsolutions.com. They have cheap prices, good service, and free shipping if you spend over 99 dollars - doesn't matter how heavy the stuff is. I bought 90 pounds of sand from them, and still got free shipping, even though I know they had to pay more to ship it because it was so heavy. I also buy my big tubs of salt from them, when I have enough to buy to get free shipping, because the salt is like 20 bucks less than at my LFS.

For fish and livestock, there are several websites I've had good results with: Liveaquaria.com (including Diver's Den), reefs2go.com, Tritonsgarden.com, Clamsondemad.com, Aquasd.com and Reefpets.com. I have an order coming from Reefhotspot.com this Wednesday, and I've heard great things about them.

For lighting, I recommend reefgeek.com. They have good prices, reasonable shipping and the people know what they are doing and can get you the right bulbs.

For base rock, I went with reefcleaners.org. They sell Florida reef rock. It's nice and light and has lots of holes in it for the fish.

That's all I can think of right now... :)

I prefer getting stuff from my LFS when I can. But if I can't, or don't want to, then we've use online stuff. Keep in mind, we have NEVER bought a fish online. Cause you really just don't know what you're going to get. But we've bought snails, chitons, crabs, and mantis shrimp online with no trouble. With fish, I just like to know who I'm buying before I buy it.

For equipment, we use marinedepot.com and drsfosterandsmith.com

For CUC and other critters and algae, we use reefcleaners.org and reefs2go.com

For corals and stuff we use liveaquaria.com and vividaquariums.com (we love vivid aquariums)

    Same here on all points.

I use Tangster (3reef member) for bulbs as well.

If I need something and John happens to sell it at reefcleaners, I'll get it from him.

Many good sites mentioned already. I like vividaquariums.com for corals and reef empire on ebay. For supplements and rock and other various equipment, I really like bulkreefsupply.com. For everything else, I like Drs. Foster and Smith.

+1 on Petsolutions. The free shipping is awesome and their prices are very competitive, if not better than most online etailers. In fact, they have a promotion this month where you get an extra $5 gift certificate if you buy the bulk salt mixes and an extra $15 if you order over $100. so if you buy like 2 buckets of saltwater (good for around 400 gallons), you get free shipping and $25 back for your next purchase! Can't beat that!
