We started with a 75 and then joined our local reef club. Found a great deal on the 150 (less than 2 months later) and by then we were already hooked. Our LFS told us that he knew it wouldnt take long for us to upgrade! LOL!

I started with a great deal on a used 70 then I got a great deal on another used 70 for my girlfriend who was going to school 3 hours away. When we got married a couple years later, we combined both tanks into a new 125. Her uncle owned a small freshwater shop but we were able to get a good deal on the tank set-up through him.

AGA drilled tank, AGA stand and hood, AMiracle wet/dry filter, Mag 9, IceCap VHO's x4, no skimmer to start out with.

Jwin is chomping at the bit to upgrade. I would love a bigger tank, but I guess I'm looking "down the road," too. We've always been able to leave town and not worry to much about all the animals at home (lots of them). Jwin won't be here forever and I might not have anybody in town that I could trust to take care of everything. I would like to retire in a few years and we would like to be able to spend a month at the beach if we want to. I also have a 78-year-old mother in Florida who is by herself (long story, refuses to move) and may have some issues there also. :-/

I do love my tank - best hobby I've ever had. :) I never could see myself sitting around knitting! ;D

A controller really would help automate quite a lot. Also, a month away from any tank, even a 46 without a "tank sitter" would not be a good situation, and a 125 may fair better even than the 46 due to larger water volume.

    I wouldn't move either ;D

She refuses to move, but then complains about the heat continually!

Every hobby I get into I tend to get a little crazy. Started shopping for smaller tanks and ended up with a 180. My first and only tank.
I knew I would just be wanting bigger.

See what you need is a custom 6foot by 24 deep by like 22 tall or so tank.

I think a 125 is a weird 6 foot tank. You get the 6 foot of length, but you also get the need to run 3 halides, if you run halides that is. if you were to do a t5ho only lit 125, then that make sense. So with a 6 foot 125, you still have to deal 3 halides, and only 18" depth. If you are going with halides as the main lighting, how about looking into a 5 footer with dimensions around 24 deep, and 22 high?

We could do that...we'll definitely look into a custom tank. I'm sure either of our LFS's could get us hooked up with one.

We like the idea of a 6' tank because we have just under 7' of wall space in my mom's office, and a 6' would look absolutely amazing there.
