My mom and I are kicking around the idea of upgrading to a 6 foot length tank (like a 125g) in the future. And our 46's 1 year mark is coming up in November, which just so happens to also be the month of my mom's birthday. Heck, we got the 46 for her birthday. :D

    So that's why I asked :)

Do a 180. 6 foot by 2 foot by 2 foot. Perfect dimensions once you see it in person and compare to other tanks.

Haha we're definitely not leaving yet. It would take months to get a tank like that set up to make the swap.

And the problem with a 180 is, my mom wants a tank where she can reach the bottom easily. Our 46 is perfect for that, and a 125 is only a few inches taller. With a taller tank, my mom would have me with my arms in the tank, and I'm not going to be in this house much longer :) So she needs a tank her size. Our LFS has a full reef 125 setup and it looks very nice. We think it'd be a perfect size for us. But the LFS says they also have access to getting us a 135, which is a few inches taller than the 125. Which might be even better.

Started my 10 gallon nano in June because I was only allowed a 10 gallon tank in my apartment. I always wanted a bigger tank. So when we moved into my rent house (my landlord owns the LFS. lol) I knew I was going to upgrade. So 4 months later I'm setting up a 65 gallon to transfer my 10 gallon into, and I have 2 10 gallon freshwater tanks that I will probably just combine into a 20 long to make water changes easier since I spend most of my time on my saltwater tanks. I might keep my 10 gallon nano running for quarantine or hospital or a frag tank. Once I get a permanent home I'm looking at a 200 gallon. But that's years down the road. :D

Good luck with the upgrade :) The 125 sounds like a good fit, the extra room will really make a difference.
I'll be upgrading in February, when I move again, since I have to tear down anyhow, perfect timing :)

I lasted about 4 or 5 months with my 46g bowfront. I really like this tank but I wanted to add a sump but my stand design did not allow one in it. I had the tank in a corner so I set up a 10g sump in the space behind the tank. It worked but was a real pain to have to get a step ladder and lean over the display tank to do anything in the sump and 10g is not much room for a sump/fuge combo. I looked into replacing or modifying my stand and either way it was going to cost quite a bit so I started looking for used tanks/stands and got a good deal on a 75g with a stand and 20g sump. I just finished setting that one up. I think it will be a long time before my next upgrade. I don't think my wife would put up with another upgrade anytime soon.;D
