Whats your skimmer smell like???

    what's the nasties that come out of your skimmer smell like?:eek:

    Mine has an earthy smell kind of like potting soil, lots of it and dark in color but
    it dos not smell as bad as i have herd it can.

    cant describe it to be honest, its not a smell I can associate with anything else

    Mine smells like potting soil, too.. always cringe when I open the lid followed by a "Ohhh that's not so baad!" guess now it comes down to what different skimmers smell like. AquaC Remora here.

    When I take the top cover off of the collection cup, or separate the collection cup from the riser, it smells earthy / kind of like potting soil, that's a good description. That doesn't bother me.

    What makes me want to throw up is when I open the waste container that has the skimmate sit for a while. Talk about rotted eggs / creature from the black lagoon type smell. Sheesh.

    Yeah I have the Aqua C Remora here as well, same kind of smell you guys describe. I thought mine didn't smell like eggs because I have a low bioload.
