Ha! I did the same thing I went and bout about 20 lbs and was wondering ok this is live so when will it start to grow? Lol! But I think the funniest (but sad) thig I did was when my firefish had jumped from my tank I took him into my hand and tried to move him around in the water to bring him back to life.. sadly this did not work

when i first started i had a seperate tanks housing feeder fish and crayfish and sorts.... i know i had bought 5 crayfish ..didnt feed any and the biggest was gone ...ended up getting a call from my brother yelling at me for putting a cray fish in his shoe haha.... somehow it crawled up the airline and down stairs down the hallway....

also a more newb thing i did when i built all my live rock with a full tank of water standing on a stool. i would step down and knock down all the rocks... haha happened like five times b4 i realized i needed to dump some of the water

My 3 year old son decided early (like 4 a.m.) morning to help mommy by "rearranging" her fish. He somehow managed to put 3 aquariums (one on top of a 5 ft. tall bookcase) of fish into 1 tank.

Electricity and Salt Water Don't Mix

I decided that the time was right to swap out the pump on my 100 gallon tank.

Like a good aquarist I had thought ahead and put valves on both sides of the pump. Like a good aquarist I decided to move all my electrical stuff out from under the tank so any dripping water wouldn't get me in trouble.

Unlike a good aquarist I had neglected to close the valve on the high pressure side of the pump. Unlike a good a aquarist I hadn't put adequate siphon break holes in the tank returns. Unlike a good aquarist, thanks to a small stand and awkward positioning, I just pulled the tubes off the pump without double checking. Do you know how far saltwater under about 5 feet of head pressure will shoot out? Well I can tell you. Exactly the distance that you move the electrical stuff from the tank. Interestingly this also happens to be exactly the distance that your arm needs to be away from the tank to brace yourself to pull the tubes off a pump under the stand.

It was almost like watching in slow motion as this hose of saltwater shot out from under the tank in the perfect arc to hit the tangle of electrical wires with my hand braced right in the middle of it all. You can guess what happened next.

Some funny stories, I think the funniest thing I have done is similar to the mistaking LR for coral story.

When I first started keeping reef tanks, I thought that LR was stony coral and it needed to be fed. I ended up buying all sorts of zoo plankton and phytoplankton to "feed" my LR so it would grow and be healthy. Needless to say my LR never grew and I was pretty embarrassed when I found out LR and stony corals were different. Thank the LFS for pulling the wool over my eyes!

    My first water change......
i mixed up the saltwater and was going to stick a heater and a powerhead in the bucket to help it heat and mix.
Well i plugged the heater in, 1 hand on the heater, one hand on the plug. When i did the heater turned red, burnt my hand so i dropped it on my carpet (melting it instantly) un plugged it and threw it in the bucket of water, it exploded glass EVERYWHERE.
This all took place in about 3 seconds. i was SHOCKED!
I had to mix new saltwater and leave it over night in front of the heater.. (much better plan)
