Whats the funniest NewB thing you did?

I guess I was pretty lucky that someone who knew about saltwater got me started. I've made plenty of misinformed mistakes, but no funny newb stories.

My funniest story is the burn on the top of my forearm from 2002. Was cleaning the algae off the glass and the cleaner shrimp crawled up the inside of my arm. I squealed and jerked my arm up, then squealed when I hit the MH bulb and jerked my arm down! Left a nice burn mark! I get reminded every time I get some sun, cuz it gets darker.

 

I did the same thing with a 10g that I was gonna use as a sump...I was pissed...and I wasn't a "newb"...was about a year into the hobby just excited and rushing lol.

another funny story when i first started I bought a chocolate chip star because they looked cool....weeeeell it ended up eating my CBS, so I took it back to one of the LFS...Well about 2 weeks later i ended up calling another LFS asking them what to do about all the Chocolate Chip starfish babies in my tank that had (obviously) came from the fish i returned to another store so, frustrated I gathered ALL the starfish i could see and took them into the other LFS...just to learn what Asterina Starfish are... lol

 

Didn't know that was possible! LOL

 

Cleaner shrimp cleans anything they can LOL My friend's parents had two and he would stick his hand in the tank just for them to clean his arm LOL

I never really DID anything funny But i did think of something funny!!

I thought coral just popped up randomly out of the live rock, i had no clue you had to buy it..Thats why I thought they called it live rock becuz it produced coral..Wow! wish it was like that, be much cheaper.

Please, let's be respectful of members with children that might have some intellectual disabilities

 

Well I bought a sebae anemone my 4th week in, with 20 watts of lighting, no flow, and in a 5 gallon tank...the cool thing is,is that it survived..haha, had to give it away bc of it's size after 6 months, but it made it!

 

Dropped my digital camera into the bucket of saltwater I was running my new skimmer in while photographing it for this forum...

 

OOOOOPPPPSSS! hahahaha:-[
