The one in front, I've had for about three months or more ... he was in my girlfriend's 10g tank before that, since he was tiny. The one in back, I just got today. He's actually only about half the size of the darker one.

Both were sold as ocellaris, and by their behavior I'd say both were tank raised.

One impressive thing: I was expecting some bullying by the bigger guy at first. But they got along instantly, as if they'd known each other all their lives!;D

I just wondered about the color difference.

PS - sorry about the fuzzy pic ...

if their both the same species, could be youre feeding much more nutrious food to bring out the brighter color. if thats the case, hopefully the same happens to the new one.

perculas and occellaris clownfish get mixed up very easily, maybe the one on the right is actually a percula.

Color basically is all about nutrition and heredity. Faded colors in Clownfish often means they were not fed enriched, nutritious, foods when they were in the larval and settlement stage.

Both of those look like Amphiprion Percula, their white stripe edges are lined with black. While Amphiprion Ocellaris has white stripes with NO black edges.

No, Ocellaris can have black edging. They both look like Amphiprion Ocellaris to me.

I would agree with you that the one on the right is a percula, and the other is an ocellaris.

Thanks for all the responses! Although it's hard to tell in my fuzzy photo, the patterns on these guys are pretty much identical. Every detail present on the dark orange one is present on the lighter one, just ... lighter.

I've decided I actually like the color difference, and they don't seem to notice that there is one.

Last night they even slept together. So cute.;D

Occellaris and and perculas do look very alike, and they will even pair up(sometimes).

    And sometimes they fight.
