hey guys, ok, i'm having some serious problems... i feel like i'm 6 and its the night before christmas! i've had my tank up and running for a few months now, initial setup, my reaction was like "ok, yeah, that's pretty cool, i like the liverock" etc... after my first cycle, i added my first fish, mollies... once again "ok, yeah, they add a pretty good touch, really help out with movement in the aquarium".... and now that my lights are gonna be here tomorrow... i'm going CRAZY!!!! its 1:15 in the morning as i'm typing this, and i just can't sleep! i tried earlier, but i'm just too wired... its not just the excitement of my new arrival, but also, i've this schedule lately... watch TV all night, sleep in the day... spending a month off work will do that to ya...plus, i've had 24 oz of mt. dew since i got home at about 10 last night..and then the excitemnt kind of piles onto it... i'm already deciding on if i should go to sleep now and wake up early to wait for them, or stay up until they get here, set them up, and then go to bed...its a tough call because the fedex guy may be here early in the morning, or later in the afternoon...

anyway, if i'm this giddish about getting lights, i wonder how i'm gonna respond when i put in my actual SW, permenant fish in there, or even when i put in my first frag! i'll be singing for joy!

Wait till you see all the critters come out at night. If you can invest in moonlighting, it's so interesting to see how alive the tank is at night!

Hide you r credits cards ASAP

    HI,
Let me tell you about this compulsion to add things, it will drive you past the rational amount of money you should spend, I have bought pods on line, plants on line, crabs, shrimp, fish, pumps, sumps, 2 skimmers be careful (skimmers are class of gotta have it),titatnium heater, water testing, phos removers , and then theres refractometers compinsated and plastic.
Did I mention live rock, and then inverts, the coral, then you gone to far when you add those nasty sea anemones, you need intervention and a couple months at the rehab for reef-itis or bankruptcy or all of the above.
Your doomed, Ive actually drove home from work at a hospital cause my wife called and said your pumps shut down, its was 8 miles at rush hour and took me over an hour.
I hope you can sleep at night with all the worry.
    I use melatonin 5mcg ..
    Yea your in for it.
    Doug

Warning signs, You see a tiny bubble on your dottie back and swear its ick and order some meds and the bubble goes away..

my lights make the aquarium GORGEOUS! if it weren't for the ripples on top of the water making the light move around on the bottom, i wouldn't think there was any water at all! it just makes everything so much clearer than what i originally had!

so far, i've spent approximately 6 to 7 hundred dollars, and i'm still not set up yet! and this is for a BASIC aquarium! i'm going to buy a new skimmer... my coralife's impeller is messed up, and its impossible to find a replacement, the cheapest route is to deal with the loud humming that keeps me awake at night, next cheapest is buying a new pump for 40-50 bucks, and the most expensive/probably the best, is trashing it and getting the aquaC remora (i like its compact size, and hear GREAT stuff about them).. i think that's it for my initial setup, i'm trying to get some people's opinions on my plan for a make-shift, "mini-fuge" (check out my post in "what size refugium do i really need?" (or something like that)...

after the initial setup is complete, and my tank finishes its new cycle (the current one), i'll be ordering about $260 worth of stuff from IPSF.com... and THEN my fish... and finally, i think i'll move on to my corals...by then, i'll have this tank maxed out, and i'll buy a bigger one! and start slap over again! but this will be when i move out, and am married (i've already got my girlfriend hooked, so there won't be the problem of "you have your hobbies, and i have mine!" aww, geez, we're gonna turn into the couple that eventually lives off of marine aquariums... people will be buying frags from us from around the WORLD!!!

oh yeah, would anyone help a guy out? i had my population of amphipods and bristleworms wiped out, and i need some more... does anybody have some they'd like to get rid of? or possibly any other freebies that could survive the new cycle and possibly even help speed it along? pods, bristleworms, miniature stars, snails, crabs... just anything that you have an abundance of... I'd really appreciate it, and when me and my wife have our own store up and running, we'll give ya some free frags of our best coral! lol but really, i would appreciate any help i can get
