    Given my fish population:
1 Orangespot Diamond Goby (Valencienna strigata)
1 Bristletooth Tomini Tang (Ctenochaetus tominiensis)
    2 Percula Clownfish (Amphiprion percula)
    2 Spotted Cardinal (Sphaeramia nematoptera)
1 Purple Firefish Goby (Nemateleotris decora)
    2 Lyretail Anthias (Pseudanthias squamipinnis)

I feed once a day in the evening an hour before lights out. They get:

    • 1 cube Vitamin enriched Brine Shrimp
    • 1/2 cube Mysid Shrimp
    • 1/8 teaspoon Salifert Energy Plus Granular Food (Cleaner shrimp and Nassarius Snails also feed on these)

    • All of above soaked overnight in 12 drops Kent Marine Zoe and three drops Garlic Guard.

I would consider overfeeding to be very fat fish (cant be any healthier for them than it is for me)
uneaten food rotting in the rock work or substrate
and a high nitrate and or phosphate level
    major algae menace

if none of the above are an issue, then I would not worry

Rinse the food to remove phosphates from the gelling. If your gonna feed that much, I suggest splitting it into 2 separate feedings and feed with pumps off so food doesnt get anywhere it can rot and fish can get to it easily.

If I start seeing food hit the substrate then that is too much.

I dont throw all the food in at once. I feed them slowly.

    Thanks for the information!!

Steve - Don't have any plump fish yet. No one's belly is full at the end of the feeding.

DaDa - Because of my work schedule, I only have time for daily feeding. I would do two on the weekend, but that would mess with the fishies minds.

tatted - Unfortunately the Salifert Energy Plus Granular Food does sink to the sand. But it is met by the Goby, snails, and cleaner shrimp who do a good cleanup of it.

I always turn the pumps off, and put my MP40 in feeding mode (10 minute cycle). The feeding cycle for the above takes ~15 minutes to complete, as I add the food slowly and wait until consumed before adding more. And when the MP40 comes back on, it will push any food that made it to the substrate back up and the fish finish it off. The
Lyretail Anthias always seems to want more that they got.

Again - Thanks for the feedback!!

You probably need some nori for the tomini
Additionally, anthias don't live very long when only fed once a day....they prefer twice (or even 3 times) per day. With that said, anthias will often eat nori as well. If yours does, then that solves 2 problems for you....your tang will get to graze and your anthias will get to eat all day long.

    Yes - Do have CUC

DaDa - My cleanup crew consists of:

    • 12 Nassarius Snail (Nassarius sp.)
    • 3 Astrea Snail (Astrea Tecta)
    • 3 Nerite Snails (Large)
    • 1 Blue Tuxedo Urchin (Mespilia globulus)
    • 16 Red Leg Hermit Crab (Paguristes cadenati)
    • 1 Cleaner Shrimp (Lysmata amboinensis)
I also consider my Orangespot Diamond Goby part of the cleanup crew for his sand sifting service, and my Tomini Tang for his munchies process on the rock.

The Asteas and Nerite snails don't do much for the rock as they are always on the back side of the aquarium, and the Nassaruis are "sand dwellers". The two most active for the rock would be the Tang and the Urchin. I very seldom see any of the Hermit crabs.

All considered, they do a good job. But would not be able to keep up if I were overfeeding.:(

    How much nori?

I do have nori for the Tomini - But I'm not sure of the feeding schedule on that. I place a 2x4 sheet on a feeding clip twice a week. The Tomini also feeds with the daily dose.
