I would like to hear some opinions on what to put in the 12g nano that I started when I started my 40g breeder.

A handful of barnacle blennies is cool.

    I love the aquascape!
I'd go with a goby/shrimp pair in that setup, or maybe a mantis.
Heck, how about just some fast-growing soft corals and a shrimp or other invert? That's what I did with my 3 gallon a long time ago. Mushrooms and a porcelain crab.

I have a small compact light on top of it. The ballast for the hood and fans were fried, so I bought a compact light with the blue and white light on it. Could I grow corals with this?

+1 my absolute favorite fish!;D I like gobie/blenny tanks! That is what I am setting up on my 28g. I already have barnacle blenny, 2 green bar prawn goby and a yellow bar goby. I want to add some more active swimming blenny in a bit, such as a bicolor blenny. The other fish you might want to look at is the horned blenny. These guys are so cute and almost look like bunny rabbits!

Do you have any idea what you want to do?

I really have no idea. I got this tank for $30 when I bought my 40g breeder. I have a couple of snails in there right now. Most of the rock in there came from my 29g bowfront. The sand is new.

You can grow soft corals under almost any light.

I would go with blennies or gobies. They seem to have the best personality and are a blast to watch! Go to live aquaria or saltwaterfish.com and look at the various types of gobies and see if anything catches your eye!
