That would be a cool idea too, probably less work than the seahorses. I just got myself some sexy anemone shrimp and they are the coolest thing since sliced bread.

sounds cool, but my tank is fairly new so i dont think an anemone would do good yet. im kinda leaning towards a seahorse tank, i just need to see if i can go about it without a chiller.

They aren't as difficult as the more common anemones. It is much like a more difficult mushroom. Seahorse tank is a good idea but they can be finicky to eat prepared foods as well as become ill and targets for hydroids.

If you go seahorse, I would defiantly recommend a chiller, and use dry rocks to avoid pests like bristle worms, hydroids, aptasias.

As for me, I think I have plans for an SPS island and a mini maxi island in a 40 breeder ::) or just do a mini maxi pico.

I am by no means a seahorse expert but I believe the purpose of the cooler water was to help stave off diseases in the horses. I thought warmer temps made them more prone to them than cooler waters did. So I believe they can be kept just fine without a chiller. Don't quote me on this though.

Don't want to thread jack but just a quick question. Is there anyway to know if you are buying a mini or maxi anemone? I know some stores will list them as maxi-minis because they are a more popular choice or they don't know, but is there a physical characteristic that you can use to distinguish the two?
