    I have an extra stock hood laying around if you want to go that route.

    I vote seahorses btw. Much more work, but I love the little guys.

    Sorry I am just getting around to this. It depends on the species of mantis. Most of the ones you would be getting for a 12 gal will do fine with led lighting though.

    The only one I think may be a problem would be O. havanensis, because it naturally occurs very deep.

    IMO if you were doing a mantis only tank I would do dim lighting as any mantis will be perfectly at home with low light, but some mantises become reclusive with bright light.

    Since you are doing corals though you will have plenty to look at besides the mantis so even if he is reclusive you still have the zoas.

    I voted mantis, for the same reason as Offensetaken stated. I absolutely love seahorses, but gosh they're a lot of work and much disappointment!
