is it just on a plain table or dresser? there might be a piece of furniture you could get on craigslist. or build a stand yourself. you could probably do so for under $30. if ou don't want to do the extra labor, you could always go with your 2 pump plan. but you'd most likely need to drill for that also.

Don't use two pumps from one tank to the other and back .. that is a disaster waiting to happen when one pump fails..

Google "Water Bridge" have used it in the past to link 3 tanks in a row. Bridge 1-2-3 then pump connects 3-1.. Water level will stay equal and flow 1-2-3 through bridges and repeat based on the pump 3-1..

Bah here's a link in case google spits back that concrete stuff over a river lol..

Just have to be able to adjust tank heights so that the desired water heights are equal..

It's actually pretty fun to watch when setup properly ..

I used clear 4" tubes between tanks for the bridges.. Fish could swim back and forth between which ever tank they liked. All 3 tanks had a different 'biotope" style.

I used to have an ant farm like that. 5 different units, connected by tubes. That's really interesting.
