Yep! The more quality test kits actually have expiration dates on them. IME the cheaper ones don't. I haven't really tried every single one...but from my experience that's what i've found out.

    Calcium API
    pH Seachem
    Nitrate Salifert
    Alkalinity Salifert
    Magnesium Salifert
    Phosphate Salifert

I don't test for Ammonia or nitrite.

IMHO the API nitrate test is garbage. The lowest two colors look identical to me and it doesn't go low enough. The Salifert test measures down to 0.1 ppm and is very easy to color match IMO. It's worth every penny.

I think the API calcium test is good so I haven't switched. You look for a color change so you don't need to match a color.

Th API phosphate test is somewhat coarse. I bought the Salifert phosphate test today and it measures down to 0.015 in high sensitivity mode.

ok well I did all the tests that I have. they are API, PH 8.2, nitrate 20ppm, nitrite 0, ammonia 0, temp 76.6 and I also have an API phosphate test, but to be honest I cant tell what the reading says...lol its either 0 or .25. and yes I use tap water. the only answer I can come up with for the GHA and marco algae I have is because of the tap water.
