Do they really eat all of the food that 1 cube gives? I really think that a lot of that food is getting wasted and just ends up putting extra waste in your tank.

You could try variations of food. Some of the popular ones I've seen people feed are New Life Spectrum Pellets, Cyclopeez, Mysis, Rod's Food.

you might want to look into making your own fish food. this is what i do (and it pisses shop keepers off at time, but hey! the customer is always right!!) i go to the super market and buy a pinch of this and a pinch of that, meaning, i buy some clams, some shrimp, a cheap fish fillet, some calamari rings. i bring it home i clean/chop it up, i add some red flakes, some green flakes, a couple algaes, some liquid vit. (actually found out this is useless as i freez it after so the properties are lost) and i squish a small garlic head in there. after that i take all this stuff and pass it in the blender. you dont want to have 2 thinly chopped food but i like to have nicely grinded. serve a fresh portion and freez the rest.

every morning before i got to work i take out one of the cubes cut about a pinky finger tips worth, let it melt, squish it abit to separate well the chunk, if i have some baby brine shrimp i add that too to my mix and give it to the fish

they go mental.... same process in the evening when i come home from work, a couple hours before lights out. seems to work for me thus far. but ill be following this thread as feeding is always a delicate matter

    +1 110%, Swisswiss.

As the old saying goes, "Variety is the spice of life". Just like our own bodies, many fish species need more than one source of nutrition for a long and healthy life. You'd also do better by feeding smaller portions more frequently.

Wow Swiss I bet that smells yummy huh? Does it matter what I get from the store. Can it be any kind of sea food or only stuff that comes from the ocean

Swissswiss way to make me feel like I'm neglecting my fish by just feeding combination of flakes, chips, and mysis. To be honest, I'm not sure if you need to go to this extent, but if you have the time- go for it.

I would just suggest feeding a variety of foods every other day. Feeding just mysis, while better than brine shrimp, would be the equivalent of a person just eating steak everyday. You don't get all of the nutrition that you need and will eventually end up with deficiencies.

Flakes, pellets, cyclopeeze, mysis, finely chopped seafood- all good options, just try to make sure there is variety.

Earlier studies have shown that feeding freshwater feeder fish to SW predators is bad for their health, so I suggest sticking to SW foods.

it smells like.....well, lets leave it at that..... the rule is, as far as i know, sea fish eat sea creatures so dont go buy freshwater fish to feed your sea creatures. also make sure the fish is RAW and UNTREATED, meaning no colorants conservatives etc. oh yes and wash it when you get home, IDEALY with RO/DI water but if your tap water is clean it should be alright as well.
other than that it does not mater if its cultured fish or wild or what you specifically use as long as it comes from the sea. try to stick to fresh fish though, you dont want to buy a pre fish mixed frozen product because when you unfreez it to blend it the bacteria will bloom and when you refreez it you freez all those nasties with it as opposed to freezing a fresh product.

my issue with this method however is that seeing as i feed them really small portions twice a day the mix i make lasts me for months on end in the freezer and thats not really ideal either. i fear that the mix does deteriorate after such a long time even if it is in the freezer, but im not sure about this and any input would be appreciated. im thinking that a fresh mix should be made perhaps twice a month?
