well while me and my fathers shark tank kinda cools off while we are getting some official numbers and such it looks like its gonna be 6 months to a year before we really start getting into it. so ive decided to get a small little nano reef up and running to get my fix in the meantime. i am really interested in getting a fluval edge and converting it to a tank reef friendly. but i heard that may be a huge undertaking? any ideas on that? if you would not suggest that what cool modern looking nano would you suggest?

thanks for that mojoe i sent him a pm because the thread isnt very specific. do you have any ideas on some other nanos i could do this with that the customizing wouldnt be as demanding. like enough room for good lighting and such?

Sure, no prob, yeah I haven't seen an update on his Edge, wonder if it's still up and running.

I don't have much exp in nanos, my smallest tank was a 55g which I went SW with since I initially heard how small tanks can be hard to keep stable. Though I do see a good amount of nice Nano tanks on here so I know it's def possible with the right meaintenence.

Maybe search the "show off your tanks" forum for Nano and see what comes up. I usually get most of my ideas by finding someone else that has a sweet set up and then I ask them about it.

thank you! but how do you go about spreading the light since there is only a very small opening in the top? also do you think the stock filtration is good enough for a sps tank? how would i go about adding a fuge or sump if i wanted

The Cree LEDs have about 120 degree spread without optics. So,it worked quite well. You should be able to keep SPS at least in most of the tank, but maybe not towards the edges. How you arrange things makes a difference. You don't want to block light with rocks for example. A fuge would be rediculouse. In a small tank waterchanges are fine for nutrient export.
