Well, I took down my 50 gallon show tank when I set up my 75. After throwing out some useless crap from the computer room I was able to find space for my 50G show and building a shelf into the stand to hold a 10G QT when needed. I have the urge to set the 50 up again, but don't know what to do with it. I don't want to do anything where I would need to buy any new equipment. The equipment I have includes a 130watt PC fixture, 125g wet/dry (please no debates on wet/drys. They work just fine. Same w/ the PC fixture.), 75g rated skimmer, overflow box, and extra PHs.

These are what I am considering doing:

    1) Set up another reef tank and keep a snowflake eel in it. No shrimp, just hermits and snails as CUC. I would keep corals that I don't have space for in my 75G such as sun polyps, galaxia, and maybe some larger soft corals.

    2) Set up an small predatory tank. I would put one scoprion fish and one angler in the tank. As well as maybe use the tank for growing frags out. I have 2 acrylic magnetic frag racks. Using the racks in this tank would keep the look of my DT clean.

    3) Build acrylic trays and grow frags in it. I don't really have a need for a frag tank, but I think it would be nice using the tank to grow out all frags that I purchase in a tank different from my DT. This way I don't need to worry about any of my fish or CUC knocking the frags over. I don't like gluing things to rocks until i know that is where I want it.

    4) Leave it in the attic and not get yelled at by the boss. I do have ear plugs and a nice comfy couch i could sleep on...

Any ideas, thoughts, and suggestions are appreciated.

I would do a tank with maybe a lion fish and lots of soft coral, macros and mangroves.

This option would be the coolest. These show tanks work far better as a frag prop system than a predator tank or others. If you keep a snowflake or any other long slender fish. It's just a ticking time bomb until he jumps out unless it's secured with a lid. A bare bottom frag tank would be really neat as well. Nothing but eggcrate and 100's of frags...........:drool::drool:........

Exactly, make a display refugium with macros and mangroves. Mantis or seahorses and pipefish or a big dragonet of somekind. Plumb it into your reef tank for the benefits of the macros.

I would build a screen top for it if I went for an eel. I think a frag tank with 3 levels made of acrylic and a bare bottom would look awesome. I just don't have enough frags to fill it right now. I would love to do this as my acan colonies get to big for my tank.

A lion is too big for my tank and I don't like dwarfs.

Too big of a tank to "waste" on a mantis. Also, I like mantis shrimp, but I would want more than that in the tank. mainly corals I need tyo spot feed. My hand + food + mantis = probable pain.

This tank is in a different room. However, seahorses sound like a good idea.

I would go with either #3 or the seahorses idea.

I say go for an octopus. Be sure to get a good solid heavy escape proof cover. I have always wanted an octopus but still have not tried to keep one. Someday I will.
