hey guys I have no experience with RO units and there are a lot of mixed reviews on the net. What are some good units for under a $150

No idea. Get a spectrapure. Thee best. Spending more for the better product will be worth it.

Avoid coralife units. You'll be stuck buying their crappy DI cartridges. With another unit, you can pack your own resin for cheap.

    Spectrepure

All three have a good high quality unit. Some will say that Sprectrepure has better filters.

Bulk Reef Supply has RO/DI units for under $150.00. I use a 75 gpd 4 stage from BRS. You can get a decent discount by joining a group buy.

You will not find a good reef quality unit complete with high quality filters, membrane and vertical refillable DI, TDS meter and inline pressure gauge for $150.
The CSPDI is an excellent choice and only $199 on sale.

I am a 7+ year MaxCap user myself.

The BFS-161 75 GPD Premium found here for $169 is closer to your price range but you give up the treated and tested high rejection rate RO membrane, 0.5 micron absolute rated prefilter and custom blended SilicaBuster DI resin.

Another choice is the Optima Professional found here for $195 complete but again you lose the special membrane and DI plus drop back to 1 micron filters. You do gain an autoshutoff valve though but those are only $12 or the cost of one filter replacement.
