Right now I have a lone clown fish, 3 peppermint shrimp, 2 scallops and a couple corals. The tank is a 55 DT with a 55 sump/fuge.

I am wanting to get these fish and wonder what order I should add them. This is the order I was thinking or can they be added in any order? I just want to make sure I don't put a shy fish after a bossy mean fish.

    Purple firefish
Wrasse of some sort (reef friendly of course)
    yellow watchman goby
    tail spot blenny
    green mandrin
    black cap basslet
    long nose hawkfish
    flame angel

you always put the most aggressive and territorial fish in last. in this case that would probably be the clown, flame, and the black cap.

Well I would have added the clown first lol. If the clown ends up being mean to future inhabitants I will sump him for a few days then reintroduce it. That should work right?

If you introduce fish at night it will help, as well as rearranging your rock formation.I had 2 ocellaris as my first fish and had no problem with aggressiveness.

Also, it seems like you may have a lot of fish for a 55g. Although your 55g sump will handle the bioload, having that many fish in a tank that size will most likely lead to increased aggressiveness and possibly stunted growth. I would recommend dropping down to 7-8 fish instead of 9

I may not get the black cap or the tailspot. It all depends on if my LFS can get them in. I'm on the rail with a wrasse as well.

Thanks for the advice of adding the fish at night. Since all new fish will be in QT for at least a month I will be able to add them at night.

One more question. If my LFS has had a fish in for 2 months and it looks healthy and eats well do I still need to QT it?

Most people will always recommend to QT new fish, as you are trying to keep the fish from introducing parasites to your DT. Even if it has been there for a while and is eating well doesn't mean that it isn't a "carrier" and it is better safe than sorry.

I know that one day this will bite me in the ass, but I personally do not QT.

I would not do a Mandarin in that small a tank especially if it is a relatively new setup.:(

@Astrick I will deff QT all new fish and probably corals then. I ran into tons of trouble once when I didn't QT when I was doing freshwater. Not playing around with salt as it's much more expensive.

@Vinny The tank was set up and running a year or 2 prior to me getting it. I got a couple rocks that came with it and all the sand and miracle mud that came with it was still running when I got it. I've had it up and running since I got it a month ago. There are tons of copepods that came with the tank and now they are over running the tank. I don't plan on getting a Mandarin for at least 6 months or more and will add pods periodically.

One mandarin in a 55 w/ rock that has lots of holes/crevasses for the pods to breed, plus if it is takeing prepared foods and you can supppliment the pod population (if you feed the pods too) then you should be alright, providing you don't get a species of wrasse that will compete w/it for pods.
Also know that for no apparent reason it may stop eating the prepared foods so it is a risk.
