use whatever you want. just make sure its a name brand and you test your water weekly... I've used instant ocean, red sea, and petco. but I also test my water every 2 days..

I use oceanic and like it so far.

As for where to buy it, I'd find somewhere with flat rate shipping online, i.e. $8.99 for any size order. They do this at fosterandsmithaquatics.com, or a LFS.

IO, cuz its easy to get and there are not many other options here. but it does seem to lack trace. i've read good stuff in Seachem and trying to find a local place that carries it.

I have just switched over to Tropic Marin's new Bio Actif Salt in my smaller 60 gallon mixed SPS LPS reef and have kept using their standard Tropic Marin Salt in my main 90 gallon reef to compare what benefits the new salt has. I have always been happy with Tropic Marin's products and I am looking forward to seeing the results from their new salt. From the literature I have read, the Bio Actif Salt sounds like it should produce some great results.

I have been using the Tropic Marin Pro Reef salt (get it in the 5 gallon buckets and have a free bucket to use for water changes, etc.). It is excellent salt and many serious reefers in the area use it. LFS also uses it, even though there are cheaper salts on the market. Waiting to try the Bio Actif salt when it arrives at the LFS. It is just as cheap to buy it there than to order online and pay the shipping charge for all that weight! Again, the Pro Reef is an excellent product and seems to keep critters (fish, inverts and corals) very happy. May be a bit more expensive, but I believe it is best to give our captive critters the best you can afford.
    Cheers,
    Steve

If you dig, you will find dissenters for all salt mixes. I have used Instant Ocean for 20+ years, what could one say then, I was fortunate that all those thousands of batches of salt were good?
