What kind of filtration?

    Yup, no reason not to throw some chaeto in a sump.

    The terms sump and/or refugiujm seem to be often used interchangeably almost.

    Looking up the definitiions, I think I have both sort of, in one unit.
    That is I feel my large sum of Chaeto serves as my refugium, that's in my sump. I do see many people that do have separate containers for each however.
    As most however, if the appendage 'system' has some sort of partitions that direct flow, both can be housed in one overall container, ?

    Ive gone with a variation of both. I bought a canister system (thanks to black friday deals there is no way I would have been able to build my own for less than the price I got the canister for). I am also converting an old aquaclear to do some more strictly bio filteration. The tank has been set up for some time just running HOB Aqueon and the afore mentioned aquaclear. With plenty of LR. Hopefully this works out. First introductions a couple cardinals and an emerald crab, here foes nothin! Thank you for the input it was very helpful.
