    +1 to this

The PE gives it away. It is resembling birdsnest because the coral branches are somewhat skinny.

the polyps look like green pocillopora but the branches look like birds nest

does pocillopora ever have skinny pointed branches?

As a smaller frag I'm assuming they will thicken up over time. I have never seen a birdsnest with PE like that, but hey, who knows, it's a big ocean out there....

Yep pocillopora. You stated you scraped it off someone's glass. It spawns in captivity quiet often. Had them attach to my glass, overflow, standpipes, and eggcrate before.

I had someone do the same for me. I haven't really come across too many beginner reefers yet. At least ones that live nearby. I know I will eventually come across someone that needs help getting started. And as much as I love helping people on this forum, or at least attempting to help lol, I would gladly help out a beginner. Thats one thing I love about this hobby, how friendly and generous everyone is - passing the favors and advice to beginners, that someone once gave them.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It's all about flow, well some lighting. Branching is influenced by flow.

    Yep yep...

Although I believe it is often more of a polyp bail out, rather than a true spawn. Regardless they can end up all over the system, not always a good thing.
