Is this salt? Its been on there for as long as I have started the tank.appearing after I added it. 1 week. Will this dissolve on its own? Ive scrubbed most off the DT but its everywhere in the sump and powerheads.

Is it a glass tank and sump? If so then take a razor and scrape it off. Was it a used tank? Possibly some dead coralline or some kind of calcium sediment that just wont dissolve.

No I razored coraline off it to make it spotless when I first got it. Then it was clean when I filled up the tank and 2 days after adding salt it all appeared.

Thats problably what is is. Its salt that was not mixed correctly with your tap water. All you got to do is scrap it off with a sponge or the magnets to clean glass and it should easily come off. I mixed my water and salt as well so this happen to me when I first started.

    Looks like precipitation.

You had the tank filled with fresh water, and you added salt that was mixed with just a little water, correct?

If that's the case, you caused your salt to precipitate, as you WAY exceeded the saturation levels of water. You cannot add water to salt, only salt to water.

The big three (Ca, Alk, Mg) will be quite low now. Not a big deal if you're just getting ready to cycle however.
