Does anyone know what this is and if it will have a negative impact? If so, what can I do to cure the problem?

    Thanks!

Eh, more like what's not on your monti. Looks like a little algae growing the bare skeleton, meaning the tissue has receded from those areas.

It looks like you have some "Brown Algae" on your coral. Its called brown algae but its description is a baige to yellow color sometimes. It is usually bad when algae grows on the skeleton of soft corals. I am currently about to loose a leather coral because of this.
