    Okay I am sorry for my mistake, cheato will have tiny particles break off and be carried to other parts of your tank and will get in the skimmer and grow around the DT sorry it is a fuge item or just good luck with it all...since......

    I've seen it both ways, chaeto and cheato. Which is correct??

    In my own very limited personal experience, it is something that sits in my sump under the lights and does absolutely nothing, whilst algae of other types grows happily all around it.
