So I looked super close at the brown dots in my tank thinking they were more diatoms but what suprised to see about a billion or more bugs the size of about a half a comma , in every square inch of my tank . What the heck are these?

So as time has passed I took another look at my tank. What I am seeing are blotches of very thin dark red to purple spots in my sand only. When you look close you see very very very very very tiny little bugs, they are almost too small. Anyways what could these be? I do not belive they are copepods because of the fact that at night, I took a flashlight to the sandbed and saw the clear critters crawling all over. What in the world are these little red things?
