What fish are these and what is this clear film?

    I would say it's possible that they're a cross. As long as the mated pair are in the same genus, that should work. It's also possible that they're one of the species that goes through color morphs during maturity, which can take several months as they slowly fade from one form to the next, and they're somewhere in the middle of that process.

    Yes like Mr. B said damsels are very hard to I.D. because some morph as they mature. There are also 321 different species of damsels.I spent a good half hour last night trying to I.D these guys and couldn't find an exact match.(although several that were close).Can I ask were you got them?

    someone was getting rid of them one way or another but they look most like a mix between a bicolor and a borneo or a bicolor and a cocoa damsel

    Kudos to you for having the heart to save them. I don't agree with flushing a live animal just because one decides they don't like it anymore, even if it is "just a fish".
