    I like option 2
I like when it looks more like a nice piece of furniture with a tank in it...

    number 2 for me also

the extra height may make the difference between a fish still in water and a fish on the floor (OK it might be dizzy but IME fish that do hit the rim and end up back in the water have a much better chance of surviving than one that ends up on the floor

given that it is eurobraced or has crossbars for support, why wouldnt you go rimless?

29g's don't have bracing, except around the walls of the tank. Nothing goes across. It's a glass tank, so not eurobraced.

I'm sorry. Their is a rim on the tank. I just like the open-top look. But the black trim around the rim is the only support to the glass. I just want to make it look nice.

    Good point, Steve.

Both have advantages and disadvantages. Some settings one might look better than the other but that's something that would influence "my" decision. Personally I like 1.

I prefer a canopy tall enough to keep reflected light out of the room. Its much easier on the eyes when you don't have the glare of a light fixture to deal with.

Good point, AZ. If the light reflected is too wide of an angle then I will want a canopy. Not sure how much light will be "spread"/reflected yet.
