    Hello all,

I just picked up a large 4 inch Hawaiian Tiger Cowry last week while scuba diving and placed it in my 55 gallon reef tank. I was wondering if any of you out there have experience with these cowries and know what I can feed it. I don't have any corals, just live rock, fish, and a few large shrimp. Thanks in advance.

It won't eat detritus, might eat filamentous algae, and will eat lots of other types of algae. It will also scrape the diatoms off of your rocks and glass, and you might get it to eat fresh clams (just open the shell and put it on the sand) and wilted leaf lettuce (steam it a few seconds, then weight it to the bottom with a rock). Sometimes it takes a while to train them to eat foods they wouldn't find in their natural habitat, but they usually figure it out if they get hungry enough.

    Cheers,

    Don
