    It depends on how much you really want to spend. I have a Canon PowerShot SX10 IS. I'm very pleased with it - I've been able to take some nice shots in the super macro mode on manual.

    Used, sure. Check around on e-bay you can find awesome deals.
    I got my Nikon D70S (DSLR) with lens, filters, 2 batteries, 5 memory cards, etc, like new in the box for $350. Brand new it would have been well over $2000. The great thing about digital cameras is they do not hold their value very well.
