I don't think it makes much difference really, I usually use one of the following. I may manually adjust ca, alk or mg a bit though depending on which one I happen to be using.

I use all of the following now and then, depending on my mood :) All seem fine...
    Reef Crystals
    Instant Ocean
    Coralife
    Tropic Marin Pro
    Red Sea Coral pro

I'll go ahead and put my two cents in: I've tried pretty much every single brand of salt. The salt that I have found to work the best is Tropic Marin. It's the most consistent and I rarely have to dose with this salt. I think Red Sea Coral Pro is a close runner-up.

Neo Marine is pretty bad. Calcium levels with Neo ran below 300ppm when I used it.

By far the worst salt is Instant Ocean. This salt is complete garbage. I don't know why people even use Instant Ocean. I would have to dose every day if I used Instant Ocean.

LMAO, your on a rampage huh? What is it your goal to bash IO in every thread you can find? IO is probably much more consistent that most of the salts mentioned in this thread. Most high end grow out, or research facilities use IO or RC for this reason.

I would suggest, perhaps your test kits are inconsistent. Also, out of the salts listed, tropic marin pro has the lowest levels, so, you will need to dose the MOST.

As I said though, I use all from time to time, and they are all fine. However, you seem to have a blatant agenda. Just sayin...

    m2434! Thx

I just bought a tub of it online from Amazon after alot of research and yes RC ranked a little better IO ranked really close and had similar levels!

I use instant ocean because I got a sweet deal on it but I'm not coral heavy so I don't really have to dose. Water changes do the trick I think though once this bucket is empty I'll try something new just to try it.
