AZDR - Would you mind telling us what the brand name is on these pumps that are plug in/auto on in case of PF?

    Thanks!

It's the Penn-Plax Silent Air B11. That's what I use also. (Model B10 is only battery powered.....it won't switch on automatically)

I'm on the same grid as anything that matters in my area, so if power goes down I get the main effort by default. If something happens though the computer UPS gets hauled down stairs & if it last longer than that there will be enough hazards that family will be a bigger concern than the tank.

Almost forgot. I usually keep about 10-15 gallons mixed & circulating at any given time, as well as another 10-15 rodi in tubs. I also keep a spare air pump & stone on the shelf as emergenc supplies.

Do need to get some prime though.

Natural gas auto-start generator for all things tank related...but we also probably have more invested/more to loss than the typical hobbyist.

If you use those and leave them in the tank non-stop, rubber band a piece of rubble to the air tube to weigh down the airstone. If you keep the airstone on it, kick it off on purpose by unplugging it to blow out the biofilms in/on the airstone every week or two. Another option is to remove the airstone and rubberband a piece of rubble to it. Either way, make sure you test it monthly to ensure that batteries are fine.
