I am curious to know what additives seem to be the most largely used (IF ANY) among reef keepers?

Before we hooked the calcium reactor up, we only dosed calcium, buffer and magnesium.

I add Baking Soda/Borax to maintain dKH more then any of those listed, Mg has stayed stable since I got it to 1500 ppm; also I have to add some Ca to the system once a week or so to keep it up between 420-460, so I guess I'll vote Ca..

I used to add a Ca supplement. But after moving to Reef Crystals salt mix, feel I no longer have to.

But again, I do regular, weekly water changes...:-/

Reason behind it is, I dose some mag. bout 2 weeks ago and over did it, mag. reading was 1680, but before that was 1160 that's why i dosed, anyway my ca. was 600ppm then my ca. drop to 560 while my mag. was at 1680 so I panic, lol and done a wc of 10% my mag drop to 1500 and my ca was 520 so I said to my self, GREAT! every thing start to look good. anyway it was time for me to do a wc just to get some debris out of my wet/dry and some of the brown/green water, thats when i found my broken impeller, now my mag. is 1420ppm and my ca is 440ppm, I use coral life salt mix because it has the highest concentration of additives already in it, and mg. is 1250 to 1300ppm's and still to me it has more ca. than any other element so I will have to agree 110% because with the wc alone there is goin to be more ca. than any other element. CA. in concentration of 390 to 410ppm is really hard to deplete if you don't have many sps or other stony corals
