Has anyone ever heard of this? Are you using it right now? If you are please give me some insight as to where you purchased and how good it works? I can't find any information about the watts/amps it can run, nor any other information about it.

Sorry if this is a repost. I did a quick search with no hits

I was thinking about getting this because my strip is under the tank and im always worried about water splashing the strip and shorting everything out/causing a fire.

    Take a look:

    Wet Circuits

    or just google wet circuits

yeah, but does it work? Im not going to buy one to just "test" it, but it would give me peace of mind about splashing water.

I'm not sure if those work. But, I had a fire that would have burned my house down if I hadn't of stayed up late that night doing dishes in the kitchen and caught the fire early. My strip was underneath my tank as well. You should get your powerstrip up and mount it on the wall behind your tank. Or mount it somewhere. That's really dangerous!

The ad says "35 bucks a pop." :hehe:

Probably not the best word. . .. .

When it comes down to it, though, if you use a GFCI, it will trip when circumstances are dangerous to the user. This device is reportedly waterproof. I think I'd want my circuitry to trip if water made contact, but that's just me.

You would just need rubberized material in the plugs to keep the water out, pretty smart idea, I would not have alot of faith in it if you constantly plug and un-plug from it.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Neoprene like a wetsuit--hugs the plugs tightly while devices are plugged in.

I dunno. Sounds good on paper, but it's almost like a car that drives itself. I wouldn't sleep very well on the way to work . . .

well, from the looks of it, you must plug a device in properly for it to activate the electricity to that plug. i mean, she stuck a pair of tweezers in there. in any other non gfci circuit, you are talking mega sparks.

I would not even consider getting that thing. NO WAY!!!

Just get a good power strip and mount it up high in the tank stand or on the wall up high. Make sure you make drip loops on things coming from the DT to the power strip if that applies in your situation.
