Well I just received my 'Custom Clean Up Crew' recommendation...

    30 Dwarf Ceriths
    12 Nassarius
    2 Chitons
    15 Florida Ceriths
    1 five pack of Mangroves
    1 Cheato

Obviously John Maloney (guy who replied) knows alot more then me, but does that not seem a bit much? If not im gonna order it if I can.
    I have a 26G Nano.

skip the mangroves and the suckrocks (chitons).Mangroves do look cool but theyre not all that great for nitrate or phosphate stick with the cheato.those two suckrocks will turn into a hundred if youre not carefull.then again they are good eating. With all the waste the snails make maybe score some brittle stars to eat their waste.good luck with cuc. Also you ask if this seems like alot and if not your going to order it,your title says youve already got it..................whats up wiff dat der????

I actually think that's on the light side... I do not think it's a lot.

I don't run a refugium, so I don't have experience with the mangroves or chaeto. So no comments from me on those.

I've never seen chitons reproduce as mentioned... I actually don't believe it either. The Chitons John sells are voracious eaters - they tear up hair algae.

I wouldn't worry at all about waste from snails. Any waste a snail makes just means other waste is that much further broke down (as snails eat waste, essentially). Looking at it that way, the more snail waste, the better ;)

Your LR probably has dwarf brittle stars already. They don't usually start popping out until after a few months in my experience. The larger brittle stars that you would purchase really need a larger tank (at least 50g, some say 75g) and even then, the tank needs to be established a long time for there to be enough food for them. I do not recommend a brittle.

None of the snails you listed are particularly effective on the glass - they're great for the substrate and LR though. I'd add something that'll hang out on the glass more often (ceriths do eat on the glass, but they're mostly in the substrate). A few nerites is what I'd recommend for that.

    GL!

I agree that does seem on the light side. I run cheato in my refuge and it is vital for keeping nitrates and phos in check. I ordered my clean up crew and it was 83 different snails.
you have to remember that some of those snails that you are getting are very small and once they get used to the tank you won't even see them that much. as far as mangroves I have never had any so I can't comment there. GL!

Agrred. On the lighter side. But I would skip the mangroves, unless you want them in your fuge just for the looks. In all reality you need 5 mangroves per gallon of water to make a difference ;) Chaeto is good stuff though.
