Tough luck =(. Apartments and Tanks are always tricky, shame your landlord isn't into aquariums else maybe they would be more understanding. 3 gallons isn't a terrible amount IMO.

So pay for the damage. I am a landlord and in my lease it says no pets does yours Because if you pay for the damage he may let you keep your tank. Just a thought.

Yea, 3 gallons is nothing, when i moved into my new apt, it has washer and dryer included, and i was upper level, one week into the new place, i did a load of laundry and went and watched tv, few hrs later i get a knock on the door, and the washer sensor went bad for how full to make it i had about 8inches of water on the floor in my bathroom, and started to get into my hallway, and my bathroom is huge!! and i was only told to that i couldnt do laundry unless i was going to watch it.... which... doesnt happen b/c the chances of it happening again? slim

well hey why dont you just get a small tank like a biocube 29 or something smaller that will have smaller accidents..maybe you dont have to completely get out just downsize till you get a house of your own..thats what i had to do..

Yeah i called them after work tonight and told them i have renters insurance, so i find out the details tomorrow on the final decision. It does say no large fish tanks so maybe i can talk them into letting me keep my DT and get rid of the extra 50+ gallons of sump and wet/dry filter that "could over flow"

That might not be a bad idea either.

I know its off topic but I would have told them that because it is included in my lease that I have a functioning washer and dryer it is their job to make sure all appliances are in working order and not my responsibility to "watch" them. My old apartment tried to boss me around like that and I just started sticking it back to them.

On another note, if your lease doesn't say you can not have an aquarium then you should be able to have one. However, you would prob have to pay for damages, which i doubt there were except for maybe paint from a water mark or something.

No pets clasues here in Ontario if not the rest of Canada to aren't worth the paper they are written on ..

Tenant Act fixed that for renters years ago..
