So, does anyone elses algae blenny eat flake/frozen/live food?

My algae blenny eats live brine, frozen brine, algae and is actually more excited about flake food than his algae! Is that weird or pretty normal?! I thought they were supposed to be herbivores but he pushes my fish out of the way to get to flake, even with algae just sitting there waiting for him!!!

Well, my lawnmower eats everything but pellets. But he still loves scraping the rocks and glass.

They will eat meat no doubt... Its just not best for them longterm.. Plus are you sure there is the RIGHT type of algae for him? Many people think they will mow down on HA.. I have never seen ONE eat hair algae... They are DIATOM eaters!

My lawnmower eats anything and everything including rods reef, flakes, bloodworms, formula one and two, diatoms, roe.....UI have yet to find food that he won't eat. He even tries scaping my arm when my hand is in the water. very sociable and never seems to get spooked. He will even let me touch him without moving.

Mine is still pretty skiddish. I think he is a wild caught. I bought him at over 3 1/2" long. I've been trying to work with him a bit, always sitting by the tank, getting him used to movement. He is pretty good about coming out now when it's feeding time. They all know because I turn off all the flow in the tank and I shake the flake jar (even if they're getting something else....) They all pop right out now, even the mandarin comes out to visit.

My blenny has formed a very unique relationship with my cleaner shrimp. ALWAYS getting cleaned. My cleaner was crushed in a tragic rock shift a couple of days ago so I'm looking for a replacement for my blenny right now. He needs some grooming.

Awww, sorry for your shrimpy loss :(

That always sucks. Hope Mr. Blenny is doing alright without him. My cleaner just kind of hangs out.....No one comes to see him (that I've seen.)
