I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a new wavemaker the question is which one? I have 4 Koralia Evo's already and would like something that won't cause them to click.(wishfull thinking?) I understand MP40'S are the way to go but since I already have these PH's I would like to hopefully find something that will work in the mean time.TIA

    Vinny,
I just went to the Smartwave from Hydor. Nice product. But yes the power heads do click. I have dual 1400 Evos and dual 1050 Evos on the wave maker. The clicking sound isnt that bad. It is noticeable though. However, even with my new extremely quiet LED lights (My metal halides sounded like a jet engine starting up) I dont think its that bad. Barely noticeable. If the room is silent then you are going to hear them. If there is a TV or any other background noise then you will not. At least this is my experience with them.

Thanks for the reply Ryland. I am more concerned that the clicking noise would bother my fish as my tank is in its own room in my house. I have heard that the mod does cause the PH's to run in reverse some times. Aparently the Redsea WM also has this problem with the Koralia's and it is supposed to be a soft start. Anyone else have any info??

Sorry I don't but here is a bump and I am following this. I wouldn;t mind doing this on one tank and the vortechs on the other

I've gotten over trying to mod them properly so they won't run backwards sometimes. I just figure that having them run in reverse sometimes will help randomize the flow. The clicking did noticeably bother my fish though. The click would make them flinch. I would try the soft start WM and mod it from there if there still is some reverse issues.

As a side note. I've added the bushings to my evo 750's (Smaller than lilly's grandad's) which is what caused them to start running reverse sometimes. Adding the bushings is retarding the shafts forward motion which is silencing the click but the prop is no longer traveling forward enough to engage the reverse stop. Wouldn't surprise me if the click is the sound of the prop hitting the rubber stop.

personally, my mp40 is the loudest thing on my tank, and i would almost stick with teh koriliras and their clicking rather than is dreadful drone with dryside 40 makes. just my 2 cents.
