do you test for it? Water changes will be fine. Even without supplementing, it will grow like a beast :)

i agree with aquaboy dont bother dosing you'll likely end up over dosing if anything.
this coral grows and spreads like wildfire. don't even need to feed it.

will spread to adjacent LR so be sure when positioning in the tank that that is where you want it.

just to let ya know that my small xenia frag started off with just 2 little pieces and in a couple of months i had 6 xenia stalks. im at the point of fragging and ive only had them for 5 months.

the best thing for my small tank to reduce the spread of this animal was to put it in the bottom corner of my tank where it can only spread on my glass and back wall of the tank.

My Xenia flourishes with Reef Crystals! Moderate to intense lighting, with NITRATES AND PHOSPHATES, in your water will be a plus! Slow to moderrate water flow is an added benefit.
I have used iodine and also gone a period of time without using it other than what is accompanied in the synthetic salt mix, with good results either way!

There had always been a thriving colony's of zenia here and there in tank. But from about a year ago, impossible to keep alive in my tank...

Could be change in salt mix...went from IO to RC about then...

    Could be MH...went from 10K, 14K

    Bout all that has changed...

    However,

What I really think is they lost the chemical war to the Kenya Trees which have spread like crab grass throughout tank...

And now as I think about it...it took me ages to get my first Kenya Trees up and thriving...did this any number of times...(& back then, when I had a couple big forests of zenia in tank....long since been chopped out....Ummmm [IMG])

My xenia has been in my tank now for two days, to me it seems the pulsing has slowed down and some only shut half way before opening back up as if they just can't be arsed lol, is this normal at first because of there new home or could it be due to something else, they receive medium water flow and are situated around halfway up in the tank,in the middle, lighting is 2x22000k actinics 24watt each & 2x10000k 2x14000k 39watt whites 156 watt so all together 204watts of t5 is this ok?

    Water parameters today are

    Ammonia 0.15ppm
    Nitrate 5ppm
    Nitrite 0ppm
    Phosphates 0ppm
    DKH 9.6
    Temp 79f

my cannister filter houses phosphate remover and active carbon amongst others and i do a 25% water change evry month with IO salt, using r/o water + top ups no salt of course...

Airline skimmer runs 24 hours a day?

I wonder then, if it would not be such a good idea for me to get kenya trees...since I love my xenia and have such a small space.
