I just purchased 2-Korlias 2's and currently was only running a MJ600. I was wondering what would be the best way to position the Korlias in my reef tank. I mostly just have soft coral in my tank. Should I get rid of the MJ600 or buy the Mod Kit and use that as well? Let me know what you guys think.

I have been using two K-3's in my 46 bow and it works well, but sometimes I feel I am blowing everything around. I have mine at each side pointing towards the middle. It creates alot of turbulance in the middle of the tank. I am also using the directional tips too. I may take them off for a wider flow though. You may want to place the MJ600 low in the tank blowing behind the rocks to prevent build up there. Hope this helps - I can post pics if you want them, just let me know!!

This is a question that really can't be answered. The flow pattern will depend on how your rock is set up, where the ledges are, what type and how deep of sand, etc.

Looks like my of your rock is against the back glass. So I would do both of the korillias pointing towards the front glass one mounted high and the other in the middle. If the rock was not against the back glass I would suggest putting one, behind the rock to keep detritus picked up and have the other one on the opposite side towards the front of the tank creating a circular flow throughout the whole tank.

How do we know if we have too strong of a flow? I just installed a Koralia 4 in my 55 gallon tank and i notice my fish swimming much differently.

It is actually pretty hard to have to much total flow in a tank. If you look at any reef in nature there is lots and lots of water movement. Now if you have specific fish/items that need low flow ie seahorses, pipefish etc, you will have different concerns, but for normal reef dwelling fish they will do fine in higher flow rates.

As the flow changes, yes your fish will act differently, many times you can actually see fish surf the higher flow areas, or try to swim upstream as hard as the can.
