I guess that 2 years would make the thread a little old, but the advice is still good!
I've been pricing various RO/DI units. $200 for a 35 gpd, even with a pressure and tds meter, seems a bit pricy. However, I only have a 45 gallon tank, (so I only need 5-10 gallons a week); my opinion may be biased because I've been looking at smaller systems than that.

By the way, from your signature, you have an outstanding aquarium system. Take BirdLady's earlier advice and don't skimp on the water. Get a reliable RO/DI system that meets your needs (and doesn't hurt your budget too badly!)

Well, I'll jump on this two year old thread also...
You can buy a decent 75-100gpd ro/di system for about $140.00
This is where I got mine. eBay: AQUA-SAFE 100GPD MAXIMUS REVERSE OSMOSIS WATER FILTER (item 180016857751 end time Aug-17-06 13:15:00 PDT)

I know of one other person here on 3reef that has purchased the same unit. By the time you add the tds meter, the faucet hook-up it and shipping it comes out around 130.00
Check around... My thoughts are that this is an item that has a high profit margin and can be had for less elsewhere. Kinda like a good skimmer real expensive but if you look hard enough you can find a good one for a lot less money.
I like the fact that the one I bought had a dow-tec ro filter and color changing resin beads.

Yes, Covey posted that link the other day. I decided I would buy the replacement RO membrane and resin beads from them when mine needed to be replaced.
