water flow for SPS LPS tank

    my tank will be 26"x18"x18", with acropora, monti cap, monti digi, Hammer, Frogspawn, brain, open brain, Fungia and very few softies like xenia and mushrooms if possible. how much flow should i have? iv read somewhere i need 30-50 times the tank volume. my DSB will be 5", LR 10-15kg.

    You go with 50 to 75 times your display's water volume with careful placement of corals and circulation pumps. I am running up to 78 times the display's actual volume with a mixed reef.

    I'm running up to 50x in a mixed reef and that is really pushing the limits of certain LPS corals. I say up to because a large contribution is from an MP40. And another portion is a hydor on a wave timer, set to random. Also, there can be big differences in pumps. Output from a Vortech is a lot more than 1000 VPN from a hydra IME. I guess that is a benefit to controllable pumps though, if it's too much, you can turn it down.

    where i stay, i just get boyu 5000 lph and other chineese brands. no good brands.

    final setup

    would a high output LED do? like 10 watt 2 white and 3 blue LED with 1 - 24watt 6500k t5HO and 1 - actinic03 (purple) with DSB 5" seachem pearl beach and a skimmer and 10-12 kg LR. and two or three 1500 lph wavemaker, how does this seem?

    what i need to mantain a check on if i go for only softies tank? i might go for mushrooms,zoas, b. polyps, kenya tree, xenia, cauliflower, etc. do you think its lesser maintanance then sps lps?

    Yes, weekly water changes should maintain the necessary minerals for those animals.

    well iv seen people not changing water for 6 months and the tank has 0-5 nitrate all the yr round. jus a few supplement and just a skimmer as filteration.
