Water Change

    What should the salinity be in the water I am adding to the tank. I use .023 but im not sure b/c this is the first water change and just wanna make sure I dont add to much. THANKS Jace

    Test your water before changing, I would not go over .01 diff. positive or negitive.

    ok so your saying if the water in the tank is .023 then the water goin in should be at .023?

    Yeap, just try to keep it at .023 in your new water. If you need to raise or lower for some reason then a very gradual shift it should be. ( YODA?)

    Yes also I would taking the water out you can go as fast as you like. Replacing the water back in take it slow. I have a 75 gallon tank and I change 10 gallons every 2-3 weeks. I do this over about 2 hours putting the water back in. If you just dump it I have seen some ill effects. Best is to go slow when putting it back in.

    personally i think its a good investment to get a maxijet 1200 and 6' of whatever size tube fits over the outlet.

    Equally important to salinity is PH and Temp. Make sure you buffer the PH, and have the water at the right temperature before you add it to the tank as well.
