    +1. this is not a one size fits all hobby.

    You should do water changes to accomplish something... not because it sounds good. Either export waste, import good stuff, or both. Your water quality tells you whether you need more or less.

    5g every 2 weeks on a 55(70G total volume). i do 5G because thats the size pail i have and every 2 weeks because thats when i have time. again, water changes are done to get nutrients out and trace elements in. is it really necessary if water quality is near perfect?? i dont think so...but thats just me.
