Hey, well its really kind of a stupid question, but its been bugging me for a while now. My tank has been doing great, all my params are better than perfect, it has been running for 3 months. my fish and corals are healthy! but the thing is i cant really see any coraline algae growing, and all of my LR has this green color! now is this normal for the LR to have this dull green color or am i having algae problems? the thing is my params are perfect.

Turn of your skimmer and filters, and scrape some of the coraline off of those rocks. Leave the skimmer/filters off for about 2 hours after you do that ;)

Hi El Silo - really good, fast coralline growth can take 2 years or more in many reef tanks
    - I used Purple up whilst setting up my latest tank and did see some improved results, even then its not instant - I agree with all said by above, you need some to seed the system, and normally the plastics ( filters, P heads, pipes etc )are the 1st things to show signs of decent growth

To get coraline growth, the spores, need to be added to the tank, either by adding a piece of rock with coraline algae on it, or some people will just add them using purple up , mine took a couple of months to show up also, but i did have coraline on my rocks, do'nt know if all you have is green all you will get is green, may have to add some with purple not sure?

Hi Guys - purple up contains NO corraline - you need some in the system and purple up being calcium/ magnesium based - just encourages development
